The Blue Album 30th Anniversary Deluxe Edition has arrived and at last weezer fans will be able to experience the long lost music and images that have been gathered and curated into a very cool trip through the earliest days of the band's history. It would have been easy to simply repackage what's been released before, but this felt like too important of an opportunity to finally fill in the many unexplored and unreleased songs and stories from back then, so it was into the vaults we went for about as deepest a dive as was possible!
It's been an emotional trip, looking back over 30+ year old stuff, remembering the songs being played and recorded for the very first time, hearing (and smelling) the little Hollywood clubs again, recalling just how *small* everything in weezer world was back then. It was just a handful of friends and acquaintances, a fragile little scene that easily could have flamed out 10 different ways - both before and after getting signed!
Thank you to everyone who contributed stories, images, and ideas to the mix. And of course all our fans, from the "lifers" who were there in the early days to the newcomers. I am thrilled with how this thing turned out, and i think you will be too.

Listen to Weezer 30 (Anniversary Super Deluxe) out everywhere now.
From the deepest dustiest nearly lost archives of Weezer history, here's a full band rehearsal of the lost track "Superman" (AKA at one point as "The Road My Father Paved"). This is from a small handful of rehearsal tapes made 'in the garage' at the now demolished 2226 Amherst Ave in West LA, in late spring 1992. Embryonic, iconic, rough around the edges! And the only recording in existence of the band playing this song. Pulled from the rarity-laden Blue 30 Box set, out on 11/1!
At the BBC, February 1995, tackling some of the Blue Album songs for the storied radio network. High pressure - we had to bang it all out in a day, no time to re-do anything, so it had to be tight the first time. "In The Garage" with Hammond organ is a real treat, as are the acoustic performances, never broadcast or heard till now. All tracks available where you listen to music!

So after 30 years, sometimes it's a good idea to take a look through the ol' attic and see what's what...
Turns out, when it comes to the Blue Album, there was a whole lotta "what"!We decided that there was no need to simply repackage what's already been uncovered (with the deluxe edition), when there was so much unreleased cool stuff still to reveal. Some of which has been buried for 3 decades, un-listened to!
Yes the Blue Album is there in a fresh remastering, sounding better than ever (if that's possible). But that's where the familiarity stops! With the Blue 30 box set, you get a full disc of unreleased early recordings, a full disc of unreleased early live recordings, The Kitchen Tape in its fully realized album format (as the band hoped would be possible back in '92, but never happened till now), The early 1995 BBC sessions in their entirely, and a 7" of the entire 1993 LMU Sessions which was the source of "Jamie"!
And then there's a 24 page full color Weezine by Karl with exclusive photos, extensive history, and credits, 4 lithographs featuring dozens of never before seen band photos from the Blue Album photo shoot, a special sticker sheet representing the 10 Blue songs, a 12 sided die for all your Dungeon Mastering needs, and a stylish pin of our mascot Bokkus, first seen inside the booklet of the Blue Album. All packaged in a really cool "unraveling" sweater box!
And! and! and! There are also two other special versions of Blue coming out as well...
* The 2xLP 45RPM Audiophile edition in a gorgeous gatefold cover featuring never before seen photos!
* The Zoetrope Edition picture disc - featuring amazing animations from the bands videos and more! You can find the Zoetrope Edition in our webstore!
* The Blue 30 Box set is also in our webstore, along with a VERY limited number of box sets (just 100 copies) that come with a sweater and is signed by the band that is available nowhere else!
We pulled out all the stops (as well as all the sweater threads) for this one folks! Limited edition LP and CD versions! Don't let it unravel as you walk away! Pre-order now.
"Undone - The Sweater Song (Third Practice)" is out for your listening enjoyment now along with the remastered album.
What a way to celebrate the start of the Voyage to the Blue Planet Tour! See you tonight, St. Paul!
